“Lunar Alchemy helps readers tap into the dark to find the gold. Rituals, exercises, and journaling prompts, all delivered in Shaheen’s beautiful prose, set the stage for deep exploration and lasting change.”—Theresa Reed, author of Astrology for Real Life
Wherever you are in life, you are experiencing a phase. Just like the moon, you are on a journey from dark to light and back again, treading the path from inward journey to outward expression. And for whatever phase you may be in, there is magic to be discovered—magic that can transform your life.
In Lunar Alchemy, Shaheen Miro—a much-loved intuitive and energy worker—offers a new way of moving through the world. As you read this book, Miro will teach you how to embrace the moon’s progression through the sky. Something in you will be awakened, a strange stirring of magic that has always been there. Each phase of the moon, writes Shaheen, is an invitation to fully participate in your life experience and to ultimately shine your light in full glory. The practices you will find here are available to anyone who is open to the prospect of awakening magic in their life for introspection, radical self-care, and personal empowerment.
Shaheen shares here his profound and personal understanding of the moon and the ways in which she can enrich our lives. By aligning yourself with the moon, you ultimately learn your own ebb and flow of lunar energy and take up this path for personal transformation.

The Moon is Your Mirror
The Waning Moon
Alchemical phase: Nigredo
We begin our journey when the moon’s light begins to fade into blackness. Energetically the waning moon is a time of release and surrender. We are drawn inward for stillness, reflection, and recalibration. This is a time of parting with the old, so you can stretch into the new.
The New Moon
Alchemical phase: Albedo
The second phase we will work with is the new moon when her light is nothing more than a silver crescent in the sky. The new moon is raw potential. This is a time to sew seeds of intention, to influence positive growth.
The Waxing Moon
Alchemical phase: Citrinitas
The third phase in the moon’s progression is the waxing moon when her face is equally light and dark. As the moon gains light and increases in size her energy lends to focus, clarification, and an increase in your desires.
The Full Moon
Alchemical phase: Rubedo
This is the fourth phase, when the face of the moon is fully illuminated. As a bright lantern in the sky, she shows the proof—the outcome—of your intentional work. This is a time of fulfillment, celebration, and reaffirmation. I think of the Full Moon as a threshold—you’ve arrived to this moment, only to embark on another journey of increase . . . the next lunation.
Your Energetic Story
Your energetic story becomes the narrative of your life. As we work with the moon, your energetic story will be revealed, and you can begin shifting this energy in conscious and powerful ways.
The foundation of your inner world is laid by your experiences; over time those experiences become your beliefs. In every moment we look for proof of what we believe, whether those beliefs are good or bad, nourishing or depleting, conscious or unconscious.
Your inner world becomes your outer reality. Reality is relative to the inner experience, which is continuously looping, unless you disrupt the cycle with conscious attention. If you couple attention with clear intention, and follow those intentions with action, then action and ownership create empowered change.
When you tap into your energetic story you begin to see the narrative of your life. That narrative can be changed to reflect a more congruent and coherent version of you!
Cycles, Phases, and Transformation
Life works in cycles. We move through phases of expression, evolution, and embodiment. Who you are at the beginning of this experience isn’t who you will become as you transform yourself. You will shed layers, let down veils, and reveal the brighter side of yourself. Waking up to something bigger than before, you will never go back to sleep—you might grow drowsy, you might need retreat, but you will never forget the feeling of working your light.
Let the moon guide you. Her power is always present when you need it. But the moon is only a mirror; she reminds you that you’re always powerful. You’re always filled with light. You can choose to shine and express yourself in whatever way you like.
If you leave with anything, let it be this: life isn’t happening to you, it is happening for you, because of you. Even when you forget your place as divine creator, you’re still creating.
Set this clear intention as you work with the moon:
“I am the deliberate creator of my life.”
